Pamela is the resident of a 5 bedroom house just down the road from my family home. At 90 years old and widowed after her husband passed away 10 years ago she has lived to tell the tale and carries around this huge personality. When I visit Pamela she is never short of a story or two about why the sofa has moved for the fifth time this week or her personal views on how she feels controlled by society. When it comes to the theme of domestic interiors, which is the basis of this project, I am fascinated by the things we collect and feel the need to possess. Pamela is a project scratching the surface on themes of isolation, elderly and identity. I attempt to move through the space looking for quiet spaces that can offer some symbolic gesture towards absence.
